Frome’s mayor cllr Damon Hooton, hosted a charity dinner and fundraising auction that raised over £1800 for Positive Action on Cancer and Harry’s Hydro on the evening of Saturday 20th March.
The evening, held at Frome’s Assembly Rooms, was attended by 60 people who enjoyed a superb five course dinner, entertainment from Caroline Radcliffe and Nick Waterhouse, and a raffle as well as a lively auction of promises supervised by local auctioneer and retired senior partner at Cooper and Tanner, David Millard.
Cllr Hooton said, “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the people who made such a contribution to these two fantastic and worthwhile local charities. I have close personal links with Harry’s Hydro and PAC and when I was elected mayor last May I wanted to help them. Throughout the year I’ve supported them whenever I could and the dinner and auction on Saturday was the finale. Raising over £1800 for such worthy causes makes me feel very proud.
“My enormous thanks go out to all the kind people who donated prizes and also to everyone who dipped into their pockets and made the evening very special.”
