As the Cheese and Grain trustees met to prepare for the charity’s Annual General Meeting on 7th December they were pleased to learn that over 350 new members have signed up in the past six weeks.
Karel Edwards general manager said, “We have been heartened by this show of support, which reflects the fondness many local people have for the Cheese and Grain.
“It may not be the smartest building in the world but it does a fantastic job of bringing the community together in a venue that everyone can benefit from, whatever their interests – from markets to football club presentations, from church services to wrestling, from rabbit shows to fashion shows, from public meetings to charity bingo, from school concerts and young local bands to being the only English venue on the European tour of an American rock legend. It is this unique mix that makes the building special and that people wish to retain.”
Membership is still open to anyone wishing to show their support for what the Cheese and Grain does. Anyone who lives or works in Frome can apply, as can local groups that use the building. It costs nothing and members will be able to have their say before trustees make their final decision on the council’s proposals.
Application forms are available from the Cheese and Grain or can be downloaded from www.cheeseandgrain. co.uk/about us
