DILLON Chapman, the eight year-old Frome school boy who was born with neurofibromatosis, has been honoured in this year’s Pride of Somerset Youth Awards.
He was presented with a ‘highly commended’ prize in the awards, after being described in his nomination as an “inspiration to everyone who meets him” and “an absolute joy to know.”
The Pride of Somerset Youth Awards is organised by The Rotary Club of Taunton, the County Gazette, and BBC Somerset. Dillon was presented with his prize at a ceremony at Somerset College in Taunton, hosted by BBC TV’s Clinton Rogers, with certificates presented by Somerset County cricketer Jos Buttler.
Dillon has neurofibromatosis, a condition which means he has tumours in his foot, leg and abdomen. As a result he has had to undergo several operations but is determined to live life to the full.
After meeting world champion motorcyclist Dani Pedrosa thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation, he now even fundraises money for the charity with his parents.
