Issue 323 – Local farmer talks shop on Radio 2

Rode farmer Andy Fussell surprised Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans last week, when introduced as the show’s mystery guest.

The BBC Radio 2 breakfast show includes a regular feature of a topical, but unprepared three-minute interview with the presenter. This time, it was the turn of the local rapeseed oil producer.
Following hot debate the previous morning on how best to make a fried egg sandwich, Andy’s rapeseed oil and British food advice were called upon to develop discussions.
Andy commented, “I’m confident that I’ve now converted the butter fan over to my golden oil for the frying of his morning snack and indeed other culinary use.
“Despite efforts to educate people on the benefits of this cold-pressed oil grown and produced here in the UK, there are still many who haven’t yet discovered it. It’s so much healthier and more versatile, compared to butter and olive oil, so it’s great that I’ve managed to convince the frontman of Radio 2’s morning show.”
Andy’s Fussels Fine Foods has also been shortlisted for this year’s Taste of Somerset Awards, under the Innovation category. Winners across all categories will be announced on Friday 8th April.
The awards are voted for by the public and incorporate 12 classes, for food lovers to nominate their food heroes. Finalists will be judged by a panel of experts from across the local food sector.
