A FROME performer has been accepted into a prestigious arts academy after fending off over 500 applicants.
Sarah Connew, 21, has been accepted on to one of 45 places at Cambridge Performing Arts, at the Bodywork Company Dance Studio, which is accredited by the Council for Dance Education Training or CDET.
Sarah has spent the past 14 years studying various styles of dance, including jazz, ballet, hip hop, modern and tap.
Now, Sarah is looking to raise as much money as possible to help her cover the £60,000 fees over three years that the course requires.
She said, “These courses do not attract any government support, so I cannot apply for a student loan, unlike university courses. I am therefore trying my hardest to raise money from other sources and sponsorship from a company would be a great help to my career efforts.
“It has been my ambition for so long to be on the West End stage.
“I am aware that seeking £60,000 is a lot of money, however in return for any businesses who sponsor me, I am willing to promote your company with any advertising material you wish to give me and am willing to help out over the college holidays or give staff the opportunity to try their hand at dancing with coaching from myself.”
