The Frome Times’ ‘Person of the Year 2011’ competition is now open, and it is time for you to make your nominations.
Frome has many individuals who work hard throughout the year to help other people, improve their town, and raise money for charity. Perhaps your nominee has shown acts of bravery, or offered voluntary services which have benefitted the local community?
People are being asked to put forward their Person of the Year 2011 nominations, the only condition being that the person is from Frome or one of the surrounding villages or works in the town; and that the person has not previously won this award.
Ian Drew, editor of the Frome Times said, “This is a chance to nominate someone who deserves recognition for their outstanding actions over the past year or who has had the biggest impact on life in the town.”
Last year’s award went to Mike Hall, who over the past six years, has kept the streets of Frome clean and tidy. His supporters praised his dedication to keeping the streets clean, even when not officially on duty.
Previously, chair of Frome Memorial Theatre Trust Humphrey Barnes scooped the award. He fought hard 25 years ago to keep the theatre open when it was in danger of closing and continues to be a leading light today.
Nominations can be made by filling out the form inside this week’s paper on page 19 and returning it to the Frome Times c/o Absolutely Fabulous, 20 Bath Road, Frome. BA11 1DJ.
Alternatively, you can email frometimes@btconnect.com stating your name, address and contact number with your nominee’s name and why you are nominating them. (We won’t disclose who has made the nominations).
Nominations must be received by 5.00pm on Thursday 12th January.
