Critically-acclaimed indie singer-songwriter, Jeremy Tuplin, is heading back to his roots to play a one-off West Country gig at The Sun Inn, Frome on Saturday 6th October at 9:00pm.
Originally from Wan-strow, Jeremy began his musical career playing the folk clubs and open night venues around Somerset.
He is back with his new single, ‘Long Hot Summer’, a playful, unconventional but utterly beguiling new cut which is arguably one of the most outwardly pop-orientated records he’s released so far, yet, through his distinct, complex song writing, retains a distinctive flavour.
Incorporating offbeat, lyrics laced with subversive humour “even after sunset I can melt butter on my lover. A new refrigerator must be smuggled undercover” with assured guitar riffs courtesy of Samuel Nicholson, Maris Peterlevics injecting beautiful string interludes and with Jay Shaw on drums, Long Hot Summer is another triumphant entry in his rapidly growing canon of gloriously original indie/folk music.
On the ambiguity of the track, he says, “This is possibly one of the most pop-like or indie pop songs that I’ve put together – I wanted that to contrast with the darkly humorous lyrical content. I enjoy that kind of thing, imagining people thinking ‘what did I just hear?’ in a pop song”.
Jeremy released his much-lauded debut album I Dreamt I Was An Astronaut, via Folkwit Records in September 2017 produced with long-time collaborator Mark Estall, who also co-produced and recorded this track, and their winning partnership continues to develop in delightfully idiosyncratic ways.
“Next Saturday night at The Sun Inn promises to be a highly entertaining event not to be missed.”
