The Lions Club of Frome will be staging its 30th Annual Sponsored Swim at Frome Leisure Centre on Sunday 8th March at 5.00pm.
The event, which is being supported by Aggregate Industries Limited, is an opportunity for clubs, associations and schools etc to raise funds for themselves or a nominated charity.
The sponsorship money will be divided on a 50/50 basis between the teams and the Lions’ Charity which is the Friends of Frome Community Hospital Defibrillation Scheme which aims to set up a network of defibrillators around Frome and surrounding villages.
Entries are invited from teams of six swimmers with each team member obtaining their own sponsorship.
The event is challenging and it is therefore very important that team captains ensure all participants are reasonable swimmers. This is particularly important with children’s teams – enthusiasm and excitement can easily lead to swimmers ‘overdoing it’.
This year there will be six trophies to compete for: the team completing the most laps, the team completing the most laps without a majority of swimming club members, the team raising the most sponsorship both pledged on the evening and collected, the organisation raising the most sponsorship by entering more than one team pledged and collected, the team aged 11 and under completing the most legs and the best performing school, as judged by the Lions Club President.
Further details and entry forms are obtainable, preferably by email to dave. allan@fromelions.org.uk or by post to 1 Nutts Lane, Rode, Frome, BA11 6PD. Entry forms should be returned as soon as possible.
