Frome Lions have presented a cheque for £5,000 to the Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service, more commonly known as “blood bikers,” at Orchardleigh Golf Club Frome.
The charity provides a free out-of-hours courier service to hospitals in the South West of England. They transport blood, organs and other vital samples between hospital and laboratories and also keep the air ambulance topped up with blood. The money was raised at the Frome Lions Club annual Charity Golf Day held in May.
Frome Lions are indebted to Chris Vincent the owner of Orchardleigh Golf course for generously allowing the use of the golf course, to the principle sponsor Western Building Consultants Group and Chase de Vere who provided the on-course refreshments at the halfway house and to the following sponsors who all contributed to making it a very successful day; Rogers & Co, Lansdowne Place, Penleigh Butchers, Bath Building Society, PSG, CW Accountancy.
