PURPLE Elephant, Frome’s family and children support charity, has thanked local businesses and fundraisers for their financial assistance which will enable dozens of local families who need support to take part in a selection of creative, artistic, sporting, cooking and nature-based holiday activities during the Easter break.
“Held in a wide selection of community venues in Frome, these events, delivered by skilled professional providers and supported onsite by the charity’s own workers, come at a financial cost,” said founder, Sue Willis. “We work on very modest, carefully-managed budgets and, thanks to many supporters, including local corporate sponsors, businesses and groups, we are able to provide a selection of educational, play events all year round.
“Included in our year-round work, we also run an early-years support service for parents, stay-and-play sessions, specialist befriending for children up to age 12 and, of course, our now near-legendary annual Frome Children’s Festival!
“Most recently, the charity has received donations from The Cordero Lounge’s pancake-filling fundraiser and The Forest of Selwood Masonic Lodge. The Forest Lodge Masons say they wanted to support a local charity specifically and the donation represents accumulated monies from their meetings over the past year, along with some fundraising events such as raffles and a match-fund gift from the provisional branch of the lodge.
“The input of groups and ad-hoc event fundraisers is part of our lifeblood. Purple Elephant, the families we support and these groups and businesses are all part of our wonderful Frome and area community. Thank you.”
