MARSTON Church will play host to acclaimed folk singer, Anna Tam, this weekend.
The 18th century building located close to Frome, which organisers say has ‘superb acoustics’, has been making a name for itself in recent months as a local venue for music and theatre.
Organisers say, “Recent events have included Tim Pitman, tenor, and Belshazzar’s Feast and on Sunday 12th June at 7.30pm we are delighted to host well known folk singer and multi-instrumentalist Anna Tam.
“Anna toured worldwide between 2013 and 2016 with the Medieval Babes and now performs traditional British songs to her own arrangements accompanying herself on a selection of traditional and historic instruments including the nickelharpa, hurdy-gurdy and viola da gamba.
“Shortlisted as ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ by Fatea Magazine in 2020 and 2021 both for her solo performances and her work with the group ‘Wild Roses,’ Anna is releasing her new album ‘Hatching Hares’ this month. Tickets £10 are available from annatam.co.uk/live or at the door.
“Marston Church is signposted to the left on the A361 Shepton Mallet road less than a mile from Sainsbury’s. On the same Sunday afternoon we are also hosting one of our regular Open Mic sessions from 3pm. In October we will welcome Anna again as a part of Paul Hutchinson’s new group ‘Coracle’.”
