Celebrate the long weekend in style with The Frome Independent which is being held next on Sunday 7th May.
It’s a chance to pick up the very best seasonal food and drink at the Somerset Farmers Market, rummage for vintage treasures at the flea and browse a vast array of local contemporary crafts throughout the town centre.
“This May we’re delighted to welcome Purple Elephant as our partner charity, best known as the amazing people behind Frome’s fabulous Children’s Festival, The Toy Library, holiday activities and lots more,” said a spokesperson for the Frome Independent. “Find them round by the library and our Village Green where they’ll have some fun things on offer and look out for their volunteer collectors throughout the market.
“Frome has a long history as a market town, proudly continued by all our present-day markets, but have you ever wanted to know a bit more? From this month, visitors to The Frome Independent can join free guided walks, led by Frome Heritage. Learn a brief history of the town, discover more about some of our historic buildings and the people who’ve shaped our town. See our website the fromeindependent. org.uk for more information.
“The Frome Independent is an award winning, destination street market. We reclaim Frome’s high street once a month to showcase the best independent craftspeople, designers, makers, food producers and vintage traders in the South West.
“The market takes place on the first Sunday of the month from March to December and strives to be ‘more than a market’, incorporating live music, DJs, street performance, workshops and activities for children and adults alike on market days.
“The market is a free event for visitors and has quickly grown to be one of the most significant elements in the region’s calendar attracting over 80,000 visitors each year.”
