Frome Town United announced late September of the passing of our co-founder and chairman Nigel Daymond. On the first weekend in October all the Frome Town United held a minute’s silence prior to kick off.
“Nigel will always be remembered and live on in the memory of Frome Town United,” said the club. “He was instrumental in youth football in Frome; he started off forming new teams for Frome Collegians, and Nigel had had a huge helping hand in developing Frome Town United’s current U10 Hawks, U11 Falcons, U12 Falcons, U14 Harriers and U16 Eagles teams.
“Over the course of many years, Nigel’s voluntary football work had a positive impact on hundreds of children, parents, coaches, committee members and supporters.
“Back in 2020, when discussions began over creating Frome Town United with the respective chairman and vice chairman of Frome Town Youth and Frome Town Robins, it was Nigel who gave guidance and made some big decisions, and had it had not been for Nigel, Frome Town United would not exist.”
