Frome celebrated diversity at the town’s annual Multicultural Festival at the Cheese and Grain on Sunday 16th November.
People representing over 70 countries took part, sharing food, crafts, dancing, singing and traditions from their countries and cultures.

Organiser Lenka Grimes said, “It was a wonderful celebration of the diverse communities in our town and there was a real positive, uplifting and unifying feel to the community event.”
Countries represented included Afghanistan, Finland, Hungary, Peru, Nigeria, Mexico, Japan, Ireland, Greece, Germany, Colombia, Jewish, Guyana, the Czech Republic, Palestine, Spain, Tibet, Kurdistan, Thailand and more.

Lenka said some of the highlights included making floating Krathongs on the Thailand stall, flag making for each country represented in Frome, a round-the-world quiz, origami and calligraphy on the Japan stall, mehandi designs on hands at the India stall, making wycinanki (a traditional paper folk art), painting postcards from around the world, making German Froebel stars, Peru llama craft and bracelet making.
There were also traditional food and drink on offer, along with performances from the Ukrainian choir, the Bounds of Selwood Morris Dancers and Indian dancers.
