AWARD-winning music festival Sunrise is moving to Frome this year, with top acts including Dub Pistols, The Beat, and Krafty Kuts.
‘Sunrise: Another World’ will be held from Thursday 30th May – Sunday 2nd June, with the site of the festival yet to be revealed.
Moving to Frome has been a huge shift for the team behind Sunrise, who until last year resided in Glastonbury.
Dan Hurring, one of Sunrise’s co-founders said, ‘Moving to Frome was hugely important to us, there is such a phenomenal mix of creative talent in this town, and we really felt drawn here.
“Sunrise: Another World is a totally new festival and we needed a new home in which to set down roots and start to grow. Without a doubt Frome is the perfect place for us and we were delighted to make our new home as part of such a vibrant community.
“Sunrise has evolved massively in the last year and this summer sees us launch an entirely new event, with a slight shift in direction and a broadening of appeal. It has always been about celebration – celebrating life and the gift that it is. So we are planning to keep everything that you loved best about Sunrise – its vibe, its ethos, its principles, the boundless creativity, the inspiration and innovation – but create a new vessel for it to flourish within. There will be a shift in musical focus this year and the programme will be much more diverse and varied, with something for everyone, especially families and young people.”
Organisers say they have already seen a constant stream of performers, musicians, and artists clamouring to be part of the festival. “Being part of Frome’s creative hub was a massive draw for us and we are over the moon at how supportive and engaged the local community are with the festival,’ said Dan. ‘We really want to celebrate Frome, and give the opportunity for local bands, artists, speakers and generally excited people the opportunity to get involved and help shape the future of Sunrise.”
A competition, which will give people the opportunity to find the new site, will be launched in the coming weeks with the chance to win free tickets to the event. Tickets can be bought locally from The Cheese and Grain box office and online at www.cheeseandgrain.co.uk
