A course helping people improve their mental health and wellbeing through nature is returning in September.
Better Nature Ecotherapy CIC and Frome Medical Practice are running the seven-week Better Through Nature course for patients experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout and overwhelm.
Thanks to National Lottery funding, three further courses will run from September, April and June for people registered with Frome Medical Practice.
Led by Tom Veck and Barbara Gonzalez, the course uses nature connection and mindfulness approaches to help participants develop tools and skills to support their wellbeing.
Tom said, “This isn’t deep therapy where you have to share your innermost feelings. It’s a relaxed and peaceful space where everything offered is optional and we’re happy for people to do whatever feels most beneficial to them.”
Counsellor Barbara said, “We are delighted to be able to extend this offering to the Frome community. Mental health issues have become endemic in the last few years and we know that nature really can help.”
One participant said, “I feel calmer overall and like I have more of a path forward. I can see how many things in my life are improved when I spend more time in nature and around lovely people.”
