New MP welcomes local ale to the House of Commons ‘Jack’ from Blindmans Brewery features as Guest Ale at the Strangers’ Bar

Frome’s new Member of Parliament, David Warburton, enjoyed a pint of Jack ale at the historic Strangers Bar in the Palace of Westminster this week.  

Brewed by Blindmans Brewery in Leighton near Frome, Jack is this week’s Guest Ale, sampled by Members of Parliament and their colleagues at the popular rendezvous in the heart of the House of Commons.

David Warburton commented, “These first few weeks serving as Frome’s MP have been incredibly busy and energising.  There’s an immense amount to do as my team and I set up our offices both in Westminster and here in Frome, but it was a very welcome break to be able to stop for a moment and enjoy a pint of Somerset-brewed ale with colleagues at the Strangers’ Bar.”

Blindmans Brewery is a five barrel plant based in Leighton just outside Frome. Founded in 2002, the brewery is rare in having its own exclusive water spring which is carefully quality-controlled.

All ingredients are procured locally wherever possible, with malt supplied by Warminster Maltings, traditionally germinated on open floors in a process spanning centuries.

The range of real ales, including the award winning Golden Spring (4% ABV), is complimented with monthly specials.  The newly-launched bottled beer range ‘Blindmans Buff’ is available in local and regional outlets, and – for a limited time – ‘Jack’ is available at the Palace of Westminster.
