A CALL centre operator at a Frome opticians has totted up a total of one million steps in just three months, raising £325 for Diabetes UK.
Lynn Beagles, who has worked at Specsavers in Frome since 2006, took on the challenge of walking the equivalent of 500 miles, in just twelve weeks.
To reach the target, Lynn walked her dog, Alfie, as often as possible and took to walking on her lunch break at work too, which helped her achieve an average of more than 11,000 steps a day.
“This charity is very close to my heart as I suffer from type 2 diabetes myself, so knowing that the money I raised is being invested into research that could help other people like me is amazing,” said Lynn. “I’d tell anyone who wants to get involved in something similar to go for it – it is hard work but you’ll feel great for doing it!”
Diabetes UK, which supports families affected by the illness and contributes to research in the hopes of finding a cure in the future. If you want to find out about their work visit their website: www.diabetes. org.uk
