PEDAL power comes to Frome on Saturday 16th June when bicycles will be used to power free, outdoor cinema screenings.
The cinema, entirely powered by 12 bikes, will screen a classic family film, to be chosen by public vote from a selection of favourites including ET, Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones), Up!, The Artist, Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists, Avengers Assemble, The Muppets and Toy Story 3. Visitors can get involved and take turns pedalling the bicycles or simply sit back and enjoy the film.
To take part, cinema-goers should meet with their bicycle, lights and something to sit on at Frome library at 8.30pm on Saturday 16th June. They will then be taken on a short, guided cycle ride to the secret cinema location. You can find out more about the cinemas and register your attendance at www.facebook.com/cyclingsomerset. If you are not on Facebook, call 07824 460576 or email cyclingsomerset@gmail.com.
The cinemas are organised by Cycling Somerset, an online community, supported by Sustainable Frome, Frome Town Council and Somerset County Council. Please note that the screenings are outdoors so may be cancelled or moved in the event of bad weather – please check the Facebook page beforehand and bring warm clothing. Please also check the age restriction on the selected film beforehand if you are thinking about bringing younger children.
