WORKS to repair one of the railway bridges near Rodden Meadow in Frome will take place in December.
The bridge, named North Row bridge, is due to be repaired from 24th December until 7th January 2023. However, the team will be on site from the middle of October. Alongside the bridge refurbishment, engineers will also carry out track renewals in the area, ensuring that freight can continue to be moved safely and reliably by rail, reducing congestion on the roads as well as carbon emissions.
Jack Cleeves, Network Rail’s scheme project manager said, “The work to refurbish North Row bridge and upgrade the track is essential to the continued safe and reliable movement of freight, allowing customers and consumers easy access to goods while reducing carbon emissions.
“I’d like to thank the local community in advance for their patience and understanding while we carry out this work.”
On Tuesday 4th October, Network Rail held a drop-in session at the Cheese and Grain for local people to ask questions and gain further information about the works.
