FROME’S favourite record shop recently celebrated their best sales ever on Record Store Day 2015, when customers queued from as early as 5am to get their hands on exclusive material.
A number of local musicians played outside the store as music lovers bustled through the door all day on Saturday 18th April.
Raves from the Graves’ Andrew Birch said, “The day was a huge success, making it the highest sales day ever since we first opened the business back in March 1997!
“The first customer to turn up reported he arrived at 4.58am just to be at the front of the queue! We opened at 9am and were still selling right on through to gone 5pm.
“Sagebury Cheese next door kindly supplied coffees and bacon rolls to those queuing up and everyone seemed to be pleased with their purchases.
“Darren Hogarth, who co-presents Temple of Sound on Frome FM with our own Richard Churchyard was lingering around the whole day, interviewing people, asking them what they’d purchased and if they’d enjoyed their day.
“We still have huge quantities of stock left over for those who couldn’t get down to us on the day, as does our shop in Warminster.”
Local musicians performing included Al O’Kane, Henry Wacey, Screaming Harlots, Trenchard, Amelia Orgill, and Jordan Whatley.
Record Store Day is a worldwide initiative set up to support independent record stores across the globe. It takes place on the third Saturday of April every year, and sees huge numbers of one-off records from many artists.
