Green and Healthy Frome is hosting three guided walks along Frome’s riverside as part of this year’s Kindness Festival, which runs from 15th to 22nd March.
The free walks will bring nature, health and the community together on Saturday 22nd March at 10am, 11am and 12pm.
“Starting at the riverside by the Welshmill Woodland Playground, the walks will explore how the natural world enriches our wellbeing, with insights from expert speakers, fun activities and experiments to get involved with. This will leave you feeling inspired, informed and connected,” says organiser Annabel Crooke.
This event is suitable for both adults and children who are curious about the links between nature, our health and community.
The short walk will incorporate four stops with guest speakers where you can take part in fun activities, experiments and games for children. “Each one of our four guest speakers will be weaving together a unique perspective to leave you feeling inspired, informed and with a renewed sense of the healing power of nature,” explained Annabel.
Starting at the picnic table near the Welshmill Woods playground, Dr Georgie Kirby from Frome Medical Practice will unpack the evidence-based power of green social prescribing. “You’ll put the evidence to the test with fun experiments and thought-provoking questions, as well as introducing you to the many ways of being part of a healthier community.
“Next, we will make our way to the pump track with Emma Parker from Cycle Together, take part in bicycle bingo and other cycle-inspired activities and receive her top recommendations for the most scenic bike routes around Frome—perfect for your next adventure on wheels.
“Crossing over the river by the Welshmill allotments, Frome Families for the Future will captivate and delight with an assortment of interactive, fun activities and discussions that bring to life the river’s biodiversity and water cycle and why protecting it matters for wildlife and people alike.
