A COLLECTION point for donations for the refugees in Calais has been set up at PaccAmora Cafe in Catherine Hill, Frome.
A group of people from Somerset are supporting the work of the British charity Care 4 Calais by collecting donations for the refugees in Calais.
Donations urgently needed include sleeping bags, tents, men’s waterproof walking boots and food, in particular easy cook rice, tinned potatoes, plain flour, tinned lentils/kidney beans/chick peas, stock cubes, spices, long-life milk, tinned fruit and much more. A full list of what is needed can be found at www.care4 calais.org.
Mel Sewell who set up the appeal to help Care 4 Calais said, “We are a group of professionals who have come together because we feel this is simply wrong.
“We can debate for ever but while the politicians argue, people on our doorstep are living in disgusting freezing camps surviving on just one meal a day. This isn’t a debate about where they should be, it’s a debate about our own humanity in the midst of a real and present crisis.
“Please help us. You can get involved by donations to our work, by volunteering and by supporting us in your own local community. Thanks on behalf of the Care 4 Calais team.”
