World Tree Story final event of the year follows on from the roaring success of a local author’s book launch for ‘World Tree Story – History & Legends Of The World’s Ancient Trees’ last month.
Julian Hight returns to Hunting Raven Books in Frome on Sunday 6th December at 11.00am-2.00pm, during the ever popular Frome Independent market to sign copies of his book.
Julian set off on a five year photographic odyssey to capture 100 ancient, historic trees across 39 countries for ‘World Tree Story’, the follow up to ‘Britain’s Tree Story’; his first book produced for National Trust in 2011.
Lavishly illustrated tributes to the world’s oldest, largest and most famous trees told through history, legend and literature, the books compare archive photographs and engravings with stunning contemporary colour photographs taken by the author. Not only was ‘World Tree Story’ written and edited in Frome, it was also supported by many local people who pledged support through a crowd-funding campaign in the summer.
Julian said, “The book has been received really well. My hope is that it paints a picture of the world’s magnificent ancient trees and goes some way to promote their continued existence. I look forward to meeting people at Hunting Raven and taking questions.”
