Most people will recognise the dramatic opening movement of Carl Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’ when they hear it.
Frome Voices are now inviting singers to join in an exciting performance of this work. Singers with and without experience, and all voice parts, are welcome.
The concert is on Sunday 13th March 2016 at the Cheese and Grain, when the choir will be joined by pianists, percussion and professional soloists, There will be seven rehearsals on Friday evenings, led by Alan Burgess, starting on 15th January (with a two week break over half term).
Frome Voices is a very successful community based choir that comes together to sing one major performance each year.
The choir performs to a high standard, and rehearsals are friendly, dynamic and fun. ‘Carmina Burana’ will be Frome Voices’ fifth project, and the concert will also include Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s ‘Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast’, a work that was once frequently performed and very popular.
Comments from previous years have included, “What a wonderful, spirited performance. To see it bringing together a community, with so many local people involved was incredibly moving,” and “Thank you for the chance to take part in that amazing concert on Sunday. What a wonderful event!”
Olivia Date of Frome Voices said, “So do join us! All singers, but particularly male voices, are welcome. The choir is keen to recruit young people too.”
There is a charge of £30, (free to those in full-time education) or £33 to cover the hire of both scores. Please register in advance by email: jane.talbot@blueyonder.co.uk or contact Jane Talbot on 07746 971 245 or Olivia Date on 07770 685 651 for more details.
