A SISTER of Benjamin Millard, a Frome local who died earlier this year from bowel cancer will be taking part in Dorothy House’s Hero Walk on Saturday 7th September.
Benjamin, or ‘Benj’ as he was known to family and friends, died on Monday 15th April. His diagnosis of cancer in August last year sparked a huge fundraising campaign to raise money to pay for treatment not available on the NHS to help prolong his life. Over £64,000 was donated to the cause, which the family will be sharing a proportion of with Dorothy House Hospice Care, who supported both Benjamin and his family.
To further give back to Dorothy House, Benj’s sister, Steph Millard, will take part in their Hero Walk in Bath. It is an event where people can walk to remember someone who is a special hero to them or walk to celebrate the heroes providing care at Dorothy House.
Steph said, “Dorothy House were incredible in Benj’s last days, they showed him the upmost dignity, respect and care. Every single member of staff at the hospice continues to support our family in these difficult times, so to say their work is phenomenal is an understatement.
“I am looking forward to taking part in the Hero Walk, along with a huge team of Benj’s family and friends called ‘Team Thanos’ and we will be walking in memory of Benj and raising vital funds for our outstanding local hospice.”
