Would you like support in getting online in order to benefit from things like online shopping and banking, accessing comparison sites for cheaper utilities and speaking to friends and family via video calling?
Or are you a digital native and would you like to help friends, family and neighbours? If so, Health Connections Mendip (HCM) have lots of ways that you can get involved.
Firstly, for those who are technically savvy, why not become a digital community connector? Join a brief one-hour training session where you will learn where to signpost people to the support, from free wi-fi to free digital training for beginners. Being a digital community connector is not about becoming a volunteer but just about empowering you with information that you can pass on to friends, family, neighbours or colleagues. It is so simple, yet you can potentially make such a difference.
Secondly, for those who are beginners or those unsure of how to use their devices, come along to either a group session or arrange a one-to-one session with HCM’s facilitator. It all starts with a phone call to Health Connections Mendip where you can discuss what you would like to feel more confident about – this might be, for example, using a keyboard, emailing, using social media or video calling. As these sessions are online, at the moment, the friendly facilitator will talk you through how to join the one-to-one or group sessions.
Thirdly, you could sign up with a great online learning platform called Learn My Way. This site takes you through the basics of using a computer through to areas that might interest those who are a bit more confident in using the internet. Why not visit Learn My Way and enter the Health Connections Mendip training centre code 8006569 to access this free online support.
To sign up to become a digital community connector please visit the ‘Let’s Connect’ section of the Health Connections Mendip website and sign up via Eventbrite. For one-to-one or group support please call Health Connections Mendip on 01373 468 368.
