A GROUP of parents from Frome will launch a new youth club this autumn for children with additional needs and social communication difficulties.
The Pod Youth Club will warmly welcome children and young adults from the Mendip area aged between 10 and 18 years old, it will be run from the Park Road support centre in Frome on a Monday evening during term time from 6.00pm until 8.00pm.
One of the parents, Sue Paxton said, “We will have a limited number of spaces so we would like to ask parents or carers to get in touch if they think their young person would benefit from spending time with their peers in a social setting.
“We will be providing a ratio of one adult to three children, but if your child requires one to one support they are welcome to bring along their own carer for the duration of the session.”
The club is pleased to have secured funding from the area’s Mencap group and the FDCIC.
Sue added, “We’re delighted to have secured funding and we will be looking for a self-employed youth club leader who will be allocated four hours per week, and up to three youth workers who will each be working three hours per week.”
Anyone who would like to get in touch about a place for their child or one of the positions on offer should telephone 07582 559591 or email thepody outhclub@hotmail.co.uk.
The closing date for applications for the posts is 19th August 2013.
