The Volunteer Network, who run programmes supporting young people across the South West are starting 2014 by targeting those living in the Frome area.
Staff from the Glastonbury-based charity were recently in Frome with their mobile youth and volunteering information centre talking to anyone who wanted to find out about their programmes, were looking for volunteers or just wanted to drop in for a coffee.
There are three projects currently being promoted by The Volunteer Network, Kick Start which provides training and support to unemployed young people aged 16 to 18, reAction which is a general support programme for anyone aged 16 to 25 and reInvolve which is a community support programme for anyone working with or planning to work with young volunteers.
CEO Scott McMillan said, “We had an extremely busy and successful 2013 and were able to support well over a 1000 young people, most of whom have now gone on to find employment or signed up for further training and we’ve also supported nearly 120 community groups in their work with volunteers and young people. We want to make 2014 just as successful.”
