A GROUP of six local mums have raised over £2,000 for Frome Birth Talk (FBT), which provides counselling, groups and wellbeing activities for pregnant and new parents.
The ‘Tough Mamas’ completed the Tough Mudder 5K on Sunday 22nd August. One of the mamas, Amy Barnhurst (pictured) said, “It was definitely a challenge and I’ve got the bruises to prove it. But we worked together and didn’t give up until the whole team got through every obstacle.
“We were electrocuted, plastered in mud, swam through freezing cold water, climbed tall towers and crawled under barbed wire. But it was all worth it to raise money for this amazing local charity.”
FBT’s director, Suzy Cristinacce, who also took part in the challenge said, “It was amazing to spend the day with such an incredible group of women. It was tough, but a lot of fun.
“We’re so grateful to the Tough Mamas for taking part in the challenge and raising much-needed funds for FBT, all of which will go towards supporting new and pregnant mothers. We plan to do the Tough Mudder again next year, and would welcome anyone who wants to join us, or complete a different fundraising challenge on the charity’s behalf.”
Frome Birth Talk was founded in 2017 and provides a free counselling service and a range of activities aimed at promoting good mental health during pregnancy and the first year.
