TRI.ART Theatre returns this summer with their annual challenge of putting on a full-blown musical in two weeks, and this year they have picked the high energy musical ‘Our House’.
This year the summer school has been divided into a senior section (ages 12 to 21 for £145) and a junior section (ages 7 to 12 for £100) with the juniors learning a dance routine for the main show as well as taking part in a fun skills week. There is no audition required for the junior workshop, but the seniors audition will take place at the Merlin Theatre on Sunday 23rd April from 10am.
No preparation is needed as everything will be taught on the day. The dates of the workshops and performances are Monday 7th August to Saturday 19th August.
Revolving around the music of British band, Madness, Our House follows the story of London lad Joe Casey. On the night of his sixteenth birthday, Joe takes Sarah out for a romantic evening. On a whim, he breaks into a new building development to show Sarah the view over north London. When the police come, Joe faces a tough decision: to run, or give himself up. It is at this point that the story splits in two as we follow the fortunes, and misfortunes, of Good Joe and Bad Joe. This award-winning play features all of the favourite hits such as House of Fun, Baggy Trousers, Driving in my Car, It Must Be Love and of course Our House!
Organisers say, “Tri.art’s Summer school is always a huge amount of fun, where lifelong friendships are formed, students learn new skills, and work hard to produce a professional end production performed to the public. We take pride in the fact that many of their students go onto train at prestigious drama and dance schools, with many going on to work professionally within the industry.”
Previous award-winning productions include West Side Story, Les Miserables, In The Heights, and Footloose. For more information, or to register email tri.arttheatreschool@gmail.com
