Dissenters Cemetery acts of remembrance

Throughout 2016, individual remembrance services will continue to take place at war graves at Frome Dissenters Cemetery.

Jim Parsons, secretary to Dissenters’ Cemetery Trustees said, “For some, remembrance is a once-a- year duty but for many, remembrance is lived daily. At Frome Dissenters Cemetery, among the 6,200 burials and internments are a dozen war graves.  A further seven graves remember, with love and affection, the sacrifice of a family member.

“During 2014 and 2015 we remembered each one on the anniversary of their death, by a simple act of remembrance and the laying of a wreath.

“Throughout 2016 we are doing this again. Events which took place this month include one on Wednesday 2nd December when a wreath containing the RNA emblem was placed on the grave of Stoker Arthur Edwin Smith RN.  The Last Post and Reveille were sounded by the chairman of the Buglers Association of The Light Infantry and The Rifles, Mr Alan Tamblyn.

“This was followed on Thursday 10th December  by a ceremony at the family grave of Cottle, Cecil Roy Fredrick who died aged 29. ”
