A FUNDRAISING campaign to save Frome’s Community Fridge has raised over £1,000 but it needs more support to reach the £20,000 target.
The Community Fridge fights food waste by making surplus food from local businesses accessible to everyone in our community, run by a team of volunteers. It was the first in the UK when it was launched by Edventure and Frome Town Council in 2016.
A fundraising campaign to save the fridge needs to raise £20,000 to keep the project running, create a paid coordinator role, reinstate a fridge at the Loop de Loop community project in the town centre and open a new fridge at Frome College. They have raised £1,197 so far.
Terri Pitts, the Community Fridge coordinator said, “Please help us continue our amazing work with the fridge project. I’d love to get the project returned to its original location. Please give as much as you’re able.”
Doug Stewart, Edventure’s CEO said “We’re so proud of Frome’s Community Fridge, and the team of volunteers fighting food waste daily. We want to see the fridge thriving for years to come. If everyone in Frome donated just £1, we’d have enough money for the fridge to thrive for years.”
