The Mells Scenic Race returns this month, taking runners on a route of footpaths, bridleways, cycle paths and quiet country lanes, organised by Frome Running Club.
After taking a year off in 2024, the run will return to the countryside in and around Mells on Sunday 21st September.
The course will see runners complete a seven-ish mile route starting and finishing in the historic village of Mells, near Frome, following the river at Mells before taking runners into Great Elm and along the cycle path and then looping around some picturesque countryside and before returning to Mells.
The course will be a mix of footpaths, bridleways, cycle paths and quiet country lanes and will be marked and marshalled by volunteers from the club as well as family and friends. The race will start at 11am from the Mells Cricket Club.
“We’re delighted to be bringing this great race back to the trails in and around Mells,” said Race Director Vicki Trundle. “It’s a central part of our racing calendar and we hope to see lots of local runners take on the challenge. It’s a friendly, welcoming race for all abilities and all participants will receive a race memento and a bottle of Lilley’s cider.”
