A Frome Town FC Supporters’ Club for children is due to launch next month, giving local children the opportunity to be a part of the club’s community from a young age.
Frome Town Supporters’ Club Young Robbins is due to launch on 18th October for children aged 0 to 16 years old. On the day, children will be given the chance to walk out with the players as a mascot when Frome Town host Winchester City.
“Our children are the fans of the future,” said one of the organisers, Wayne. “It’s all about getting children out in the fresh air to make friends and support their local side, instead of only watching football on the television.”

The Young Robbins club will cost £5 a season per child and will include a mini pack, key ring, stickers, a chance to be a mascot at the games and walk out with the players and a birthday card signed by the squad.
Wayne, who was a ‘young pirate’ at Bristol Rovers when he was a child, has experienced the benefits of being part of a young supporters’ club.
He said, “I remember walking out on the pitch as a mascot and meeting the players. It is a memory that has stuck with me.
“My son, Nico, was also a mascot when he was three years old last year and he still remembers it now when we are on the pitch. It is all about making memories and inspiring children to either play football as they get older or to keep supporting their local side.”

It is hoped the Young Robbins club will further build on the community-focused feel at Badgers Hill and to further integrate children into the clubhouse and the players. There will also be a table with colouring sheets and photos of the players that the children can get signed.
“We are also planning a Christmas party with a player coming along to meet the children,” said Wayne.
“We just want to keep the positive feel at the club going and get children involved in the club who might not normally go to football.”
