The Trustees of the Friends of Frome Hospital have hailed the invaluable dedication to the team of their long serving stalwart volunteers who, over the past ten or more years, have raised over £26,000 for the Trust.
Headed by Maureen Pratten, with colleagues Jackie Lobley, Teresa Coles and Val Carpenter, they have worked tirelessly over the years, representing the ‘Friends’, at the weekly markets and at local fetes in and around the town and surrounding villages, offering raffle prizes and selling children’s hand-knitted clothing fashioned by themselves or from other volunteers.
Much of the monies raised have been directed at supporting maternity services at the Frome Community Hospital.
“We are astounded by their sheer dedication every week and in all weathers,” says Peter Smith, chairman of the Friends of Frome Hospital. “Their staggering £26,000 fundraising amount was pointed out by our treasurer, Owen Hillier, at a recent meeting, and we have no end of praise for their unfaltering commitment over these years.
“They only rarely seek help from others within our group, and simply just get on with what they do best. We know they would appreciate some extra help now and then, so if anyone would like to support Maureen and her team, please make contact with us: friendsoffromehospital@gmail.com.”
