Frome’s free festival for children returns on Sunday 19th July with a day of activities and entertainment.
Established in 2015 by family support charity Purple Elephant, the Children’s Festival is an accessible and inclusive event featuring music, theatre, storytelling, sports, yoga and creative activities.
The event will take place across the Cheese and Grain, the Market Yard car park, the riverside area and Welshmill Woods. Festivities will open with Frome’s town crier and a procession from The Street Bandits.
Entertainment will include performances from Jellyfish Theatre, magic shows, circus acts and workshops from Children’s World and Devitos Circus. Young people will also have the chance to create and record music in the professional Bert Jansch recording studio.

Active sessions include basketball, boccia, BMX, yoga and a huge mobile climbing wall. Outdoor attractions range from giant games, bushcraft and willow weaving to nature activities with Shared Earth Learning and the return of Twinnies Petting Farm, featuring alpacas, mini ponies for grooming, pygmy goats, lambs, rabbits and guinea pigs.
Visitors can also enjoy adventure play, balloon modelling, biscuit decorating, a reading tent and a wide range of crafts and board games, alongside a sensory chill-out space and a baby-only area.
Booking is via www.purpleelephant.org.uk/childrens-festival. Businesses interested in sponsoring Purple Elephant for 2026 to 2028 are asked to contact info@purpleelephant.org.uk.
