Frome will fill a Glastonbury Festival-sized gap this summer with a month of live music, comedy and club nights throughout June.
As the world-famous festival takes a fallow year, the Cheese and Grain and The Tree House will host a programme of headline shows, emerging artists and themed nights across the town.
Among the best-known names announced are Maxïmo Park, Scouting For Girls, Electric Six, Newton Faulkner, Vernon Kay and Russell Kane, alongside US acts Drowning Pool and SNOT. Radio DJ Gary Davies will also bring his Summer 80s Day Party, while Glastonbury’s Baggy Mondays indie disco will feature in the programme.

The Tree House will focus on newer and alternative acts, with performances from Crystal Tides, Walt Disco, Class Of ’79, Jim Ghedi and Mercury Prize-winning vocalist Ben Ottewell of Gomez.
Programme, Production and Marketing Manager Rob Dahl said, “The programme spans generations and genres while showcasing the sheer diversity of today’s live music scene and the appeal of Frome to draw in internationally renowned artists.
“With multiple events already on low ticket warnings and some shows having under 10 tickets left, and experimental folk act Joshua Burnside’s show completely sold out, the response has underlined the appetite for diverse, high-quality live events in the region.”

In previous years, Frome has hosted surprise and secret shows in the run-up to Glastonbury Festival, with artists including Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, CMAT, Gary Numan and Coldplay performing at the Cheese and Grain.
Rob added, “There was naturally an expectation that the usual wave of shows in Frome probably wouldn’t happen. The events team at the Cheese and Grain thought it would be exciting to respond to that with something of our own, a month of events that gives people across the region a reason to come together and celebrate live music, comedy and nightlife in Frome.
“More than anything, we’re looking forward to seeing the atmosphere across the town throughout June and watching audiences discover artists, reconnect with live events and experience our venues at their absolute best.”
