An inspirational South-African community choir will be performing in Frome this month.
Thanda Choir provides township youth in Cape Town with opportunities to develop their talents in music and the arts, offering an escape from the dangers of crime.
The choir blends traditional South African sounds with contemporary influences, creating music that is deeply unifying and meaningful whilst inspiring global audiences.
It will be appearing at Cheese and Grain on Tuesday 17th November.
The mission of Thanda Choir is to empower young people through the transformative power of music. They provide a nurturing space where youth can develop their voices, build confidence, and cultivate meaningful connections with others.
Having only been formed in 2023, Thanda Choir already have some impressive accolades to their name. They wrote the soundtrack to ‘The Last Ranger’, a critically acclaimed short film that was nominated for an Oscar at the 2025 Academy Awards. They have also performed with seven-time Grammy Award-winning musician Jacob Collier at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival 2026.
The Frome performance coincides in the middle of two huge shows for the EFG London Jazz Festival at The Royal Albert Hall (with Melody Gardot) and The Roundhouse (with Fatoumata Diawara) making the Frome performance especially special.
Support on the night comes from Frome’s very own community choir Jackdaws Songbirds.
Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are available from Cheese and Grain website or in person at their box office.
