An extended play area at Tower View will be officially opened during Frome’s Playday celebrations on Wednesday 5th August.
The day will also celebrate work to improve The Key Centre and restore it to the community since Frome Town Council took the facility over in early 2025.
The event will run at The Key Centre from 2pm to 5pm, featuring free skate lessons for children and adults with Soulful Skate Company (bookable on the day), a stay and play session with Purple Elephant family support charity, free refreshments, live music from the Frome Street Bandits and a range of activities for the whole community.
Activities finish at 5pm, when Mayor of Frome Mark Dorrington will officially open the extended play area across the road at Tower View.
After the ribbon cutting, everyone is invited to stay on for a picnic at Tower View, with free picnics available for children and cake for adults.
Keyford Ward councillor Philip Campagna said, “The Key Centre has been restored to its rightful place as a vibrant community hub. This year’s Playday event is packed with brilliant activities for all ages – and they’re all free, including the refreshments, so do come down to have some fun on 5th August.
“In addition to toys and board games, there will be willow crafts with Mary Cross, cyanotype pictures with Caravan Arts and bike ramps with Super Roots. Cheryl Sprinkler will be there on crossing patrol, providing a special blend of road safety and silliness.”
