Frome Town 0-0 Weymouth
Frome Town ended their pre-season campaign with a cagey goalless draw at home to Weymouth in a game which saw minimal chances for either side.
There could have been an opening for the Dodge after seven minutes when Albie Hopkins played a great one two with Archie Ferris down the right-hand side. Hopkins then tried to find David Duru in the box but it was cut out for a corner by the Weymouth defender.
Matt Neale had a chance for the Terras just before the 20-minute mark but he dragged his shot wide from the edge of the D.
The best chance of the opening 45 minutes probably came right at the end when Weymouth’s Toby Holmes unleashed a strike from distance and Kyle Phillips made an excellent save to tip it over the bar.
The hosts had a chance to break the deadlock in the 55th minute but Ferris could only send his effort from the corner over the bar as he tried to stab at home at the near post.
Two minutes later Hopkins crossed the ball in for a Ferris header which was very well saved by the Weymouth keeper Gerard Benfield.
Harry Hutchinson then had a sighter at goal from just outside the penalty area that was comfortably held on to by Phillips.
The Frome backline did very well in restricting Weymouth to just chances from outside the box. Tom Bearwish had one on 71 minutes that flew over the bar.
The Weymouth number 11 then tried to create chance ten minutes before full-time after weaving his way in field form the left, his shot from outside the box was tame and was collected once again by Phillips as both teams played out a stalemate at Badgers Hill.
