A community football tournament has raised more than £5,000 for Fair Frome over the six years it has been running.
The Real World Cup brought together 19 teams at Writhlington Sports Centre on Sunday 4th October.
The event raised £1,387 for Fair Frome, which runs the town’s food bank and other services supporting people in need.
Organiser Alex Veale said the tournament began as a way for a group of friends to play football for fun before becoming an annual fundraiser.
“We set up a little tournament for the group because there’s quite a few members in the group. It reminds everybody of being children and just playing tournaments for fun,” he said.
“Then the following year people were asking if we would do it again. We put it on again and said that we would do it for Fair Frome.”
This year’s winners were Arc House, who took home the trophy.
Alex said, “The event is organised by myself, Sean Kelly and Chris Gilson. A huge shout out must go to Arc House, SK Conservation and Frome Town United for making some generous donations to the event. It was a great event.”
