PERFORMANCE tables for secondary schools were published by the Department for Education last week, comparing GCSE and A-level results throughout England.
The tables show at Frome Community College, 47% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE, including English and maths.
This compares to a national average of 58.9%, and a local authority average of 57%.
The figure for Frome Community College is down from 52% last year, although remains higher than results in the previous year. At A-level, the average point score per student was 695. This compares to the average point score of 679.5 last year, and against the national average of 745.9.
Headteacher Wendy Missons said, “We have a tremendous bunch of students and every GCSE and A-level is well deserved – well done to them all. This year at A-level we already have several young people accepted for Oxbridge or medical school, and the sixth form is filling up fast. I am pleased that the recession and rising costs has not dented students’ enthusiasm to continue their education.”
