Frome residents and the surrounding villages are being encouraged to make use of a ‘lifeline’ bus service so it does not run the risk of being axed in September this year.
The future of the number 267 bus Monday – Thursday evening service has been the subject of much debate. Neighbouring Parish Councils and Frome Town Council pulled resources together to keep the service running until September, but the service is still under threat following the decision by Bath & North East Somerset Council (B&NES) to reduce their subsidy for these services in May 2017.
Frome and Villages Bus Users Group (FAVBUG) have urged people to keep using the local bus services otherwise it will have an impact on the decision of the operators.
Peter Travis, Chair of The 267 Group, representing Frome, Beckington, Rode Norton St Phillip and Midford said, “The 267 is a vital seven day a week bus service linking Frome with Bath. The 267 is also Frome’s only evening bus service. We in the 267 Group are working in partnership with First to try to make the 267 sustainable and that means persuading more people to ‘bus it’.”
First, in collaboration with The 267 Group has produced a timetable highlighting the services from Frome to Bath and Bath to Frome which are available online or at the Town Hall.
