Local business NTS Computing is warning its customers about fraud after one of their customers was targeted and lost over £4,000.
Neil Young is warning people about computer fraud specifically related to unsolicited telephone calls, or malware messages advising you to call a number, or phishing email scams.
Neil said, “I had a vulnerable customer taken for over £4,000 and although a simple fraud, they were persistent and he ended up making two payments via MoneyGram and Western Union, so has no recourse for reimbursement.
“I have had many customers over the years who have been scammed out of relatively small amounts of money from £80 to almost £30,000 in one hit.
“It breaks my heart to see people, not always vulnerable, but ordinary savvy people just caught unaware or at a bad time get taken in by these frauds. I am really disappointed that the government or other services that facilitate money transfer are not doing enough to warn and prevent this fraud.
“I think it is right to bring this to people’s attention on a regular basis to educate them, so hopefully they do not fall foul and risk being out of pocket.”
