Frome Reads rolled out their mix of quiet reading corner and messy graffiti again this weekend at Frome FM’s Party in the park and are now looking forward to a busy week for Frome Festival.
Councillor Kate Bielby said, “It was such a lovely sunny afternoon with great music. Lots of children enjoyed our nice quiet reading snug and some amazing graffiti stencilling. There really are some talented kids in Frome. We’re looking forward to the Children’s Festival and some storytelling fun in Welshmill.”
Frome Reads will be at the Children’s Festival on Sunday 9th July in the woods at Welshmill Park and then every afternoon at the Town Hall from 3.30 – 5pm with the smoothie bike and the reading corner from the 10th – 14th July.
They will also launch a new explore Welshmill Park leaflet put together by the Frome Reads team. The others in the series can are currently available from the Discover Frome Information Point.
Community projects officer Kate Hellard said, “We are delighted that we are going to have a programme of events at the Town hall this festival which support some of the towns community groups. Frome Reads is a great initiative that hopes to bring reading into the heart of the community.”
Open Studios No 16 Creatividad en el Sol will also join be at the Town Hall throughout the festival week in the Council Chamber, which will also include a launch on Wednesday 12th July for the Open Story Tellers Information Leaflet and a celebration of the work of the Critchill Students currently on show in the Town Hall on the afternoon of Friday 14th. Members of the public are invited to come along and see some of the amazing work that is on display.
