A Black Swan Arts on-site artist, Daniel Musselwhite, is currently competing to be named ‘Britain’s Next Jewellery Star’ in BBC Two’s ‘All That Glitters’.
And Daniel has already got off to a great start – in episode one, which aired earlier this month on 13th April, he was named ‘Jeweller of the Week’.
About Daniel, Black Swan Arts say, “Daniel Musselwhite has been making jewellery since 1995 and has gained exceptional experience in many areas, including silver, gold, platinum and palladium.
“He started his career as an apprentice in Church House Jewellery in Bristol, then went onto start his own business, creating bespoke work in his own bold, dynamic and unique style.
“His popular jewellery-making classes are usually booked up months in advance, and his particular specialty is creating bespoke wedding rings together with couples.
His passion for delivering high-quality, contemporary pieces is evident in every single piece in his collections.
“What wins over the public audience, is his friendly, upbeat and positively uplifting approach to his work. This results in much-loved, individually hand-made jewellery that you will want to treasure forever and pass through to families for generations.”
Emma Warren, Centre Manager at Black Swan Arts, adds, “We are delighted to have such an inspirational and talented jeweller on site at Black Swan Arts. Dan has a studio shop downstairs (you can watch him work) overlooking our popular courtyard café, as well as bespoke space on the second floor where he teaches workshops and courses.
“He is such a friendly, down-to-earth and approachable artist with an infectious creative positivity. His jewellery and workshops will be in such huge demand, that I think we’ll have to start managing socially-distanced queues to see him at work!”
Presented by comedian Katherine Ryan, the series – which British Vogue describes as “like ‘Bake Off’ for Jewellery” – was filmed last year on location at Birmingham’s historic School of Jewellery, in the heart of the nationally renowned Jewellery Quarter.
Across six episodes, contestants are challenged each week to design and create a ‘Bestseller’ and ‘Bespoke’ piece – and in each episode, one contestant is named ‘Jeweller of the Week’, and another is sent home.
‘All That Glitters’ is broadcast on BBC Two on Tuesday evenings at 8pm – the finale is scheduled for Tuesday 18th May.
