WHILE busy with rehearsals for One Man Two Guvnors, Frome Drama Club are also preparing for their spring production of Alan Bennett’s “The Lady in the Van.”
This will be at the Merlin Theatre in April next year and they are really pleased to have acquired an essential part of the set – the van! This is coming from a theatre group in Guildford who had great success with it earlier this year – see photo.
However, they have run into a problem. The van, having been adapted for the stage, can no longer be considered roadworthy and doesn’t have a licence and therefore cannot be kept on the street, Moreover the roof is no longer waterproof, so it needs to be kept under cover.
Frome Drama Club say, “Can anyone help with off-street storage? Ideally under cover – but perhaps with a tarpaulin cover in a drive or yard. If it was within pushing distance of the Merlin that would be fantastic – but any offers gratefully received.
