Twelfth Night, one of our favourite Shakespearian comedies, comes to the Merlin in a live theatre screening on Wednesday February 14th at 7.00 pm. Valentine’s Day seems particularly appropriate for this tale of mistaken identity, cross-dressing and unrequited love.
This RSC production, set and costumed in late Victorian England, and featuring Ade Edmondson as Malvolio, Kara Tointon as Olivia and Dinita Gohil as Viola, has been enthusiastically reviewed: “If music be the food of love, get ready to lick your lips: Christopher Luscombe’s RSC production of Shakespeare’s melancholy comedy sounds – and looks – sumptuous. Lavishly designed with a lush, romantic score, and stuffed with smart ideas. The wealth of detail is richly rewarding.” (The Times).

There’s a half-term treat for everyone aged five to 105 on Saturday 17th February at 2.00pm when the Lempen Puppet Theatre Company presents Little Frankenstein – what will happen when puppeteer Frank Stein decides to abandon his falling-apart, traditional puppets and create a real, live one? Tickets are £7.50 adults, £5.50 children and a family ticket (2+2) is available for £21.
