THE World Day of Prayer service will be held next month at St. Mary’s Church, Innox Hill.
The service will be held on Friday 4th March 2022, commencing at 2.30pm.
Organisers say, “Last year, due to Covid, this annual service was delayed until October and was held at St. John’s Church. This year we can hold it on the correct date. The service is due to be celebrated in 170 countries worldwide in their own time zones.
“It begins in Samoa and travels through Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas before finishing back in Samoa some 39 hours later. It has been planned by the women of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland have a separate group.
“The theme is – ‘I know the plans I have for you’. After such difficult years it is comforting and encouraging to think that God does have ‘plans for us’. Life has been challenging, sad and in many cases, tragic for many people. This will be a good opportunity to share and support each other as a caring Christian town and also to give us a chance to look forward in hope.
“Refreshments will be served after the service and we hope to have a cake stall, as all money raised will go to many charities. Please wear a mask if you are able to. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you and sharing together.”
